Part of the Original Series, this guitar dons a vintage look and packs a tasty, amplified sound. The two on-board ProBucker pickups, combined with classic circuitry and CTS potentiometers with vintage wiring, effortlessly deliver all-too-familiar double-coil tones. Another tasteful special feature comes in the form of a Kalamazoo headstock, which greatly adds to the old-school look, sound and feel of this Epiphone LP Custom. Last but far from least, there's one modern upgrade that's sure to come in handy when you install a new set of strings: a highly stable LockTone ABR bridge.

Voor mij niet te geloven dat de Epiphone Les Paul Custom voor die prijs geleverd kan worden, het is een fenomenaal instrument. Doordat er andere houtsoorten en andere humbuckers voor de Epiphone worden gebruikt dan op een Classic Gibson Les Paul (die wél het drievoudige van de Epihone kost!) is de klank niet geheel vergelijkbaar, maar de Epihone klinkt echt wel supervol, warm, en een speeltest met een Orange stack leerde mij, dat deze gitaar een (blues)rockbeest zonder grenzen is. De mooie slanke hals (slim taper) geeft je de mogelijkheid razendsnel (legato) te spelen, en een mooie lage actie, met prachtig afgewerkte medium jumbo frets, helpen hier zeker bij. De afwerking is smetteloos: de goudkleurige hardware past perfect bij de witte kleur van de gitaar, meer chique gaat het niet worden. Alles is top: van de binding (decoratieve randen), de gedetailleerde afwerking, de heerlijk glijdende toets, tot aan de perfect uitgelijnde stemmechanieken. Stap een beetje over je ego heen dat er op de kop Epihone in plaats van Gibson staat, en besef dat je een vijf-sterren gitaar koopt voor de prijs van een drie-sterren gitaar.
